Ex-Clanton officer guilty in kidnapping

WETUMPKA -- A former Clanton police officer was found guilty Friday of kidnapping and attempted sodomy charges.

Scotty Williams will be sentenced Sept. 18, records in the Elmore County Courthouse showed.

Williams was fired from his job at the department following his indictment. The charges involved a minor victim, said District Attorney Randall Houston. Following the jury verdict Thursday, Williams' bond was revoked and he was placed in the Chilton County Jail until sentencing.

Williams could face a maximum of 20 years in jail. A change of venue was granted in the case, moving trial to Wetumpka.
