Venue change filed in baby burning
WETUMPKA -- Chief Assistant District Attorney Sam Partridge said documents were filed Wednesday in Elmore County Circuit Court requesting a change of venue for Melissa Wright, the woman accused of burning her 18-month-old child in an oven. The court papers said pre-trial publicity would hamper efforts to find an impartial jury. "We, of course, will fight efforts to move this trial," Partridge said. "We believe she can get a fair trial in Elmore County despite the level of media attention this case has garnered." Wright's attorney, Kevin James, could not be reached for comment |
